The State Government has announced that they will no longer be assisting First Home Owners who purchase an established house, removing the $3,000 First Home Owners Grant completely.
First Home Owners will still qualify for no stamp duty (providing they buy an established house for less than $430,000) and receive up to $2,000 towards their fees if they are eligible for the REBA Grant (providing the purchase price is $400,000 or less).
The First Home Owners Grant of $10,000 remains unchanged for those building their first home.
There is no date set for when these changes will take place as of yet, however we estimate the changes to the grant will come into effect for all contracts signed after 30 June 2015.
If you or anyone you know are considering to buy their first home soon, it is important to understand what these changes mean for you as a first home buyer.
